Donahue Fire Department Expansion/Remodel

This project consisted of expanding the existing Fire Station to more than double it’s size to allow for transfer of fire equipment and ongoing operations and then shelling out the existing space and converting it into a Multi-Use Emergency Evacuation Center complete with showers, restrooms, laundry facilities and kitchen.

City of Davenport – Union Station Sitework

We are excited to help execute a portion of the vision for revitalizing Davenport Iowa’s Riverfront.  The sitework we are doing around the historic Union Station Visitor’s Center will help showcase this building as part of a lengthy plan to help make the Downtown area and the Mississippi Riverfront a friendly, welcoming destination for tourists.

Our improvements include new curbing, re-setting portions of the brick alley, a fabulous new brick sign, new sidewalks with benches and bike racks, all complemented by new landscaping and lighted features. Completion date is set for Oct. 2009

The Berg Apartments

Big Dog Construction worked on the design and did a complete renovation for these two buildings located at Third and Harrison streets in downtown Davenport. Once condemned by city officials due to drug activity and hazardous conditions, the Berg Apartments are now a prosperous addition to the city. On the first floor, we constructed 5,500 square feet of leased commercial space. The upper three floors were rebuilt into six two-bedroom apartment units, six one-bedroom units, and four studio apartments. These units have been featured as a major part of the city’s marketing campaign for downtown re-development. Big Dog Construction also won The Lorraine D. Wright Award for “Best Remodel Project” as well as “Best Use of an Existing Building” for this project.
